CULTURE AND CIVILISATION
This specification allows students to delve into the classical as well as the modern world by observing and investigating
cultural characteristics across time and space, cultural influences on people of one area or more, as well as the exchange
of cultural traits through travel, technology, or other means.
This branch of knowledge might be viewed as a preparatory course leading to Classical studies (Literae Humaniores),
which is a wide-ranging field, devoted to the study of the history, literature, languages, archaeology, and philosophy
of the ancient Greek and Roman worlds.
Our current course aims at including discussions, questions and comments on some of the following subjects, extensively
or in passing, while attempting to focus on all learning skills: [pre]history, culture - civilisation, language, mythology, literature, et al.
Teaching and learning will be dynamic with student participation.
Semester Examination
This course is assessed at the end of the semester through a written examination. Students, who wish to be examined orally, or otherwise,
should contact the instructor as well as the university service of “Prosvasi”.
N.B.: Students might want to think about creating or joining ‘Student Humanities Societies’. For example:
Anthropology Society, History Society, Archaeology Society, Literature Society, Ancient Languages Society, during their studies.
